Basic Info
Name:Duo Maxwell
Bio
Name: Duo Maxwell
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Eyes: Indigo
Hair: Chestnut
Hair Style: Rather wild bangs with a long braid in back
Dorm Room: 317
Ride: Deathscythe (motorcycle)

Canon: Duo grew up more or less as an orphan on colony L2 (the American colony), which was a rather poor colony. His birth family was killed somehow (I think something having to do with the war, but I'm not sure). The first time he's seen in the manga, he's running with a group of street-kids who theive to survive run by an older boy named Solo. Soon after Duo joins the gang, there is a fever that runs rampant through the colony and Solo dies from it. At that point, Duo changes his name because if Solo is going to be with him always, he'll be Duo. It's unknown what his name was before this.

Some time later, the entire gang is taken in by Maxwell Church in an effort to give orphans of the war a home and a chance to be adopted by families. Duo never gets adopted, however, and so ends up staying at the church with a nun, Sister Helen, and the priest Father Maxwell. In AC 188, some rebel troops come to the church demanding a Mobile Suit. Duo leaves to steal one so the troops will go away but when he gets back, the church has been burned down, Father Maxwell is dead and Sister Helen dies in his arms.

Because of all this death surrounding him, he also takes on the name Shinigami - God of Death.

In AC 192 Duo stows away on a ship owned by Professor G and the Sweeper Group to get off the colony. He's caught, but the Professor is impressed at how Duo managed to get past his security system. This leads to Duo being selected to be one of the pilots of a new breed of Mobile Suits - Gundams.

His main skills include guerilla warfare, hacking, stealth operations, machinery repair, and piloting.

AU: The first part of his story is more or less the same, except that it takes place in the slums of a city on Earth rather than on a colony in space. Where the story deviates is where the church is burned. In the AU-version, this never happens. He also vaguely remembers his parents, who were killed in connection with a gang-war - rather than a global war.

After staying at the church for a couple of years, Duo does go out to a foster family - several in fact. But something always goes wrong and he ends up back at the church. The longest he stays with any one family is about three years. He never really "connects" with any family he is sent to live with and the only one he ever really talks to is Sister Helen, who he has come to see as his mother.

By the time Duo finishes middle school and is in the 9th grade, he's sick and tired of being constantly moved around to different families and even though he knows it will hurt Sister Helen, he runs away. He ends up with another street gang, though this one is comprised of older members. Rather than stealing food, they traffic in drugs and ... well, other things. For three years, Duo disappears onto the streets. When he finally does make his way out of the gang (for various reasons) and goes back to the church - that is when it catches on fire. The fire starts from some sheets being stacked too close to a hot water heater in the basement.

Duo runs into the church, panicked, and finds Sister Helen, dragging her outside. She's dying and asks where he has been but he brushes off the question, telling her to hold on, it will be ok. She just smiles and shakes her head. Then she tells him that she's always thought he should make something more out of himself and she wants him to go to college. Duo promises her that he will and sets out to do exactly that. He stays on the streets because he has no money to rent any sort of apartment - but he does scrape up money to take a few night classes and get his GED.

Not sure what he would tell the school about those intervening three years if they asked. But probably something about thinking that school just "wasn't for him" and possibly working at various jobs during that time.

As for skills. He's always been good with computers and machinery from a young age. He learns to hack into the computers of the middle school he goes to, though admittedly the system isn't all that secure. But with this base knowledge, he's able to later hack into such things as ATM machines and so forth when he's in the street-gang. Stealth operations becomes the skills he uses to pickpocket and sneak into warehouses and the like to get food. As for piloting, I may not be able to do anything with that, but I'm thinking maybe something like video games or some such thing. Possibly those arcade games that have flight simulators.
